Do you ever wake up and feel completely mentally, emotionally, and physically drained? As a woman, I have a lot on my plate. I’m constantly on the go. Taking care of this and that. Making sure the bills gets paid on time, taking care of an issue at work or trying to make it to the 4:30 appointment I totally let slip my mind – thank god I had it set in my reminders.
There are times my body feels like a robot and I’m just watching as life goes by. Lately, I’ve been giving myself some ME therapy. Doing things for myself that simply make me happy. Such as enjoying a cup of coffee at the local coffee shop or taking a drive after work to reflect on what was accomplished today. It gives me a moment to think. A moment to be by myself and give my mind a mental break.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you don’t take care of your mind, it WILL overload with all the stress. When you give yourself a break and nourish your mind with simple SELF CARE, you will see a difference in yourself and your life. You will feel replenished.
Self care is a form of self love and there is many ways to practice self care. Finding something you genuinely enjoy doing. Even if it’s as simple as grabbing a cup of coffee and reading a book. Some women like to get their nails done, paint, or soak in a hot bath with candles lit all around. Men DO practice self care as well – Yes those endless hours on PC or gaming consoles can be their self care as well. It’s something they enjoy. My point is, we all deserve to give ourself a break from the real world and we should not feel guilty for treating ourselves.
If you don’t give yourself some time, and you go everyday “just doing” then you will eventually feel empty on the inside or like a robot that is doing the same repetitive actions everyday. This can lead to depression.
People need you. Your job, your family, and your friends. If you aren’t taking care of yourself mentally, how are you going to serve them? How are you going to keep making those accomplishments at work or how are you going to keep the family in line at home?
Life’s too short to not give yourself a break. Think about what SELF CARE means to you and feel free to comment your thoughts.
